Nashville, TN -- Tennessee enacted the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act, SB 1162, to allow families the opportunity to set up tax-exempt 529A savings accounts for disability-related expenses. ABLE programs are managed on the state level and require state implementation.
Advocates applauded the proposed enhancements which would allow rollovers to and from 529 college savings plans. Other improvements would strengthen the financial tool by allowing individuals with disabilities to deposit income directly into their state-facilitated ABLE accounts.
